Operators of Unlicensed Cosmetic Medical Services Targetted in Government Crackdown

Operators of unlicensed or otherwise illegal cosmetic medical services are to be targetted as part of a new government crackdown. Triggered by the growing use of such services and the increased availability of micro-cosmetic surgery, a number of government departments are to combine their efforts to tackle the problem as a part of a programme scheduled to run until April 2018.

Under the terms of the initiative, as jointly organised by the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the General Administration of Customs, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the China Food and Drug Administration and three other government departments, four particular activities have been identified as the crackdown’s priorities:

(1) Practising without a licence

(2) The illegal production and sale of drugs and medical devices

(3) Any medical beauty training courses conducted in violation of existing rules and regulations

(4) All illegal advertising and online promotions
