Shanghai Sets Time Limit Standards for Port Services

The Shanghai Municipal Office of Port Services recently announced new time limit standards for port services. The Shanghai International Port (Group) Co Ltd (SIPG) will provide round-the-clock service, with no less than 90% of trucks completing container delivery or pick-up within 60 minutes. Vessels for international trade with 2,000, 4,000 or 6,000 TEU capacity will complete their operations within 12 hours, 24 hours and 36 hours, respectively, of berthing. Vessels for domestic trade with 1,000-TEU capacity will complete operations within 12 hours of berthing. In other new standards:
- A company may submit a container pick-up plan to the SIPG Business Acceptance Centre after completing the necessary formalities and receiving a release order for import containers from the regulatory authorities. Companies may also make online appointments via the SIPG online platform after submitting a pick-up plan.
- A company may make an appointment for inspection of import containers (general cargo) at the SIPG Business Acceptance Centre.
- Unstuffing and restuffing (general cargo) of a 20-foot container under customs inspection should be completed within three hours.
