To meet growing demand of food of the urban population and strengthen food safety, China’s agricultural sector must expedite its pace of modernisation. Efforts should be made to introduce more advanced equipment and management systems, increase per capita output per unit area of land, as well as enhance the technological level and connectivity of the different links in the food supply chain including product storage, preservation, processing, packaging, transportation and sale.
