Guangdong Adjusts Emergency Approval Requirements for Medical Supplies Exports
17 April 2020
Guangdong announced that emergency approval procedures for medical masks and other epidemic prevention supplies have been adjusted as follows:
- Starting from 4 April, emergency approval applications are no longer accepted on the basis of the rules spelled out in an earlier circular (Yue Yao Jian Ban Xu No. 90 [2020]). But products with registration application already submitted in accordance with the emergency approval procedures and fulfil the acceptance requirements will be handled according to the original procedures.
- Five types of medical products, including single-use face masks, surgical masks, protective masks, protective clothing and infrared thermometers, that have already obtained emergency record-filing certificate may submit written application to the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration for emergency approval [Note]. The Administration will organise assessment and decide whether to adopt emergency approval procedures.
Note: Application must be made in accordance with the guidelines for the application of emergency approval of products that have completed emergency record-filing issued by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration on 4 April.
Full details can be found in Circular No. 32 (2020) issued by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration on 3 April 2020.
