CEPA Grants Hong Kong and Macao Engineers Wider Access to Mainland Market from 1 June

The General Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently issued a notice on the regulation of the business practice of Hong Kong and Macao professionals who have obtained mainland qualifications of certified survey and design engineers and certified supervision engineers (Jian Ban Shi No. 19 [2020]). Starting from 1 June 2020, Hong Kong and Macao professionals with mainland qualifications of certified survey and design engineers (except structural engineers, grade 2) and certified supervision engineers may apply to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development for registration. Those already registered in Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian may apply for registration certificate issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development when their current registration expires. The original registration becomes invalid after the new certificate is issued.
Hong Kong and Macao professionals with mainland qualifications of grade 2 structural engineers who apply for registration on the mainland will be handled by the competent departments of housing and urban-rural development in various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
