China Announces Emergency Measures on Imported Cold-Chain Food Tested Positive for Covid-19
18 September 2020
In order to ward off the risk of COVID-19 transmission through imported cold-chain food and protect the health and safety of consumers, the General Administration of Customs announced on 11 September (No. 103 [2020]) a number of emergency preventive measures on foreign manufacturers of imported cold-chain food tested positive for COVID-19. When the cold-chain food or packaging exported to China by the same foreign manufacturer is tested positive for COVID-19 in the first and second tests, Customs will suspend import declarations from that manufacturer for one week each time, at the end of which acceptance of import declarations will resume automatically. If the same foreign manufacturer is tested positive for COVID-19 three times or more, Customs will suspend its import declarations for four weeks, at the end of which acceptance of import declarations will resume automatically. The above announcement is effective from the date of issuance.
