China Announces 38 Additional National Food Safety Standards

In accordance with the Food Safety Law, the National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation recently announced 38 new national food safety standards and four amendments (Announcement No. 7 [2020]). The new standards cover cold chain logistics hygiene protocols, food flavouring substances, food additive flavourings, food additives and nutritional fortification substances. Also released was a list of ‘first revisions’ to national food safety standards for four types of food additives. The new standards have also been approved by the Review Committee of National Food Safety Standards.
