CPC Unveils Proposals for 14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Long-Range Objectives

The proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 adopted by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on 29 October was unveiled on 3 November, putting forward a number of economic and social development directions for the country in the run-up to 2025, including:
- Upholding innovation-driven development and creating new strengths for development in an all-round way
- Accelerating the development of a modernised industrial system and promoting the optimisation and upgrading of the economic system
- Creating a strong domestic market and fostering a new development pattern
- Enhancing the level of opening up and creating a new situation of win-win co-operation
The proposals also support the further integration of Hong Kong and Macao into the development of the country, the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area, and the optimisation of policies and measures in support of Hong Kong and Macao people residing and working on the mainland.
