China to Step Up RCEP Implementation Arrangements

The State Council called an executive meeting on 1 December to make arrangements for stepping up the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The meeting required departments concerned to fulfil due responsibilities in specifying task division and time frames in accordance with the agreement, and accelerating domestic ratification procedures.
The meeting put forward the following tasks: Strengthening collaboration between departments to promote the opening up of trade, investment and other fields, along with higher standards and rules in all areas covered by the agreement; losing no time to formulate measures for tariff reductions and simplification of customs procedures; implementing opening-up measures in various service sectors step by step in line with new opening-up commitments; and offering comprehensive protection of intellectual property rights in line with the commitments made in the agreement.
