Shanghai Unveils 14th Five-year Blueprint for Dual Circulation Strategy

The CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee recently unveiled its proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035. The blueprint envisages Shanghai achieving remarkable results in its implementation of the nation’s major strategic tasks and making notable progress in urban digital transformation by 2025. The core functions of Shanghai as a centre for international economy, finance, trade, shipping and science and technology innovation and its strength as a cultural metropolis will be further upgraded on the basis of the 14th Five-Year Plan by 2035. It aims to become a core city of the world-class city cluster in the Yangtze River Delta region. The city also envisages enhancing its soft power in an all-round way and joining the ranks of the world’s top cities in terms of comprehensive economic strength.
