Customs to Crack Down on Typical Tax Fraud Cases

21 December 2020

The General Office of the State Taxation Administration (STA) has taken steps to crack down on “false enterprises” that issue false invoices, “false exports” that are used to claim tax refunds and “false declarations” that take advantage of tax concessions on epidemic prevention and control efforts. Acting in accordance with the STA’s instructions, local tax departments have joined forces with public security and customs officials, banks and others in a crackdown on such cases.

Crackdowns have been conducted in Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Ningbo, Fujian and Shenzhen. The amount of money involved in the abuse of preferential tax measures to issue false invoices totalled RMB7.8 billion in Ningbo alone.
