New Certification Rules for Food Safety Management Systems Take Effect

The Certification and Accreditation Administration of China issued the new edition of implementation rules for the certification of food safety management systems on 8 January (Announcement No. 2 [2021]), but certification bodies may conduct certification in accordance with the old or new edition of the rules during the period between 8 January and 1 July 2021.
Food safety management systems applying for certification after 1 July 2021 will be certified in accordance with the requirements of the new edition. Enterprises certified according to the old edition will undergo conversion through the supervision and assessment by certification bodies. The old edition of the rules will be replaced after 1 July 2021.
