Shanghai Unveils Plan for Accelerating Development of New-Energy Vehicle Industry

In February, the government of Shanghai unveiled an implementation plan for accelerating the development of the new-energy vehicle industry (Hu Fu Ban No. 10 [2021]), putting forward the five tasks of making breakthroughs in core technologies, building a sound industrial ecosystem, accelerating the demonstration and application of new technologies, perfecting the supporting urban infrastructure, and improving the institutional system. Shanghai aims to produce 1.2 million new-energy vehicles annually during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), with output value exceeding RMB350 billion, accounting for over 35% of the total output value of the municipality’s auto industry. The plan proposes 19 key projects.
