Shanghai to Increase Global Trade Hub Capabilities

On 29 April, Shanghai unveiled a plan for increasing its capabilities as an international trading centre during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) (Hu Fu Fa No. 2 [2021]) with specific development targets. The main points of the plan include cultivating new and all-round competitive edges for foreign trade; advancing high-level institutional opening-up; promoting the sustained qualitative improvement and expansion of consumption; enhancing the influence and competitiveness of the China International Import Expo ; promoting the building of a modern logistics system and creating a market-oriented, rules-based and international business environment; and forming a new high ground for institutional innovations in trade and investment.
