China Announces Rules on Random Sampling Inspections for 62 Products

On 13 May, the State Administration for Market Regulation released rules for random sampling inspections of the quality of 62 types of products (Announcement No. 15 [2021]). Local market regulators are required to comply with these rules in their supervision and inspections of product quality.
The 62 products include toys, shirts, bedding, leather garments, fire doors, air purifiers, refrigerators, leather shoes, electric kettles, wires and cables, electric bicycles, LCD monitors, notebook computers, minicomputers, safety helmets, massage appliances and sports shoes. The new rules superseded any previous iterations with immediate effect.
